Sick and Tired of it...no, not Covid!

Covid-19 is running rampant in the US. One Canadian observer termed us a "cesspool" of the disease. He's right! We lack the political leadership necessary...from the top down to the states...to coordinate a plan to help curb the virus so cases and deaths continue to go up nationwide. But there's also something else that we are lacking...CONCERN.

It is sickening to me to watch so many self-important people puff out their chests and defy the measures that our medical professionals are telling us will keep us safe and healthy...just to be defiant...to "show them" that they won't be pushed around...to not let their rights and privileges be infringed upon. Got news for you folks...YOU'RE WRONG AND A TAD STUPID!

We have the privilege of driving a car. But the government tells us we must have a license and wear a seat belt...for our safety and the safety of others. We have the right to drink alcoholic beverages, but the government says we must be over a certain age. We have the right to possess firearms, but the government prescribes licensing and age requirements. Do I need to go on?

The restrictions that we must adhere to in order to control this thing are not "rights" issues. They are PROCEDURES meant to keep us safe and healthy out of CONCERN for all of us. To purposely avoid wearing a mask when out in public places and to social distance...to avoid the very simple task of washing your hands frequently...just so you can say that you have the "right" not to is just simply wrong. It's not about rights...it's about compliance with what you're being asked to do. It's about respecting people who know more than you do!! But just as any 5 year old, you choose to rebel...to push the limits...to test authority.

That testing...that puffery...very well may cause you to get sick or to cause someone else to get sick...or die. CV-19 is not cool stuff. I know...pretty sure I had it. All of the classic symptoms were there and a visit to the ER for labored breathing ruled out pretty much everything else. My ER visit was at a time when CV-19 testing was not available to anyone that was not already in critical care and, besides, the testing at that time took 10 days to return results. I was in day 11 after symptoms began.

I was lucky...had a mild case of it. But even my mild case was something worse than flu and, quite frankly, I believe has left me with a slightly different lung capacity. I hope no one else gets this stuff. But unfortunately, because of the behaviors and attitudes of many, a whole lot more will. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. However it is an unfortunate fact that many won't care until they contract it.

Let's hope it won't be too late for them.
